Whimsy Soul
“My bucket list is as long as a Harry Potter novel, I swear, so I can’t say just once place is my favorite to visit. ”
Not many of us are brave enough to step completely out of our comfort zone in search for something more. However, those of us who have know you would do it again in a heartbeat, myself included.
Kara, from the travel, fashion, lifestyle, and now wedding (cheers to her engagement) blog, Whimsy Soul, is just that gal. With her straight to the point, funny personality this lovely lady is not afraid to show you who she is. And whether you like it or not doesn't matter in the least to her. You can see why we love her.
In an interview with us, we got to find out more about this colorful, strong woman.
DESCRIBE WHIMSY SOUL IN ONE SENTENCE.
At the end of the day, I'm just a midwest gal who ran away to San Francisco, who has a wanderlust heart, and a fierce belief that every woman is beautiful, no matter her size.
YOU MOVED FROM WISCONSIN TO SAN FRANCISCO. WHAT ARE SOME LESSONS YOU'VE LEARNED IN MAKING THE BIG MOVE?
First? Save at least twice as much as you think you need! Also, adulthood can be really lonely unless you push yourself out of your comfort zone to get out there and meet your new best friend.
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO TRAVEL AND WHY?
My bucket list is as long as a Harry Potter novel, I swear, so I can't say just one place that is my favorite to visit. That being said, I lived in Rome for 5 months and fell in love in Italy -it's a magical country. I also visited Yosemite for the first time last year, and it took my breath away.
HOW DO MOST OF US SATISFY OUR WANDERLUST ON A BUDGET?
Careful budgeting! I know I know - everyone and your Mom has told you the same thing. I wrote a post about traveling the world on the cheap a while back here, but it basically boils down to prioritizing what matters to you and budgeting the money side out. If travel is important to you, you have to put travel above everything else. It has to be a lifestyle. People don't magically save up enough money to backpack across Europe by accident.
YOU ARE VERY BODY POSITIVE. WHAT ARE SOME WORDS OF WISDOM TO THOSE STRUGGLING TO HAVE THAT SAME MINDSET?
For this I pose this question: Think back to last summer. How many times did you go to the pool, look at another woman in a swimsuit and think "She looks fat in that suit. I can't believe she scarred my eyeballs like that today!" Unless you're a terrible human, the answer is probably never. Just remember next time you feel insecure about your body- nobody else is paying attention to you, so you might as well wear whatever you want.
YOU POST A LOT ABOUT FASHION. WHAT IS THE ONE OUTFIT THAT BEST DESCRIBES YOU?
A floral midi dress! I love how comfy and pretty they are.
IF YOU WERE STRANDED ON AN ISLAND WHAT ARE 5 THINGS, YOU WOULD HAVE WITH YOU?
Olive oil - I use it for cooking but also almost every day for a moisturizing my dry skin! A library so I could read my days away. And then an endless supply of rice, a machete and a lot of tarps because that's basic survival 101.
